PHILANTHROPY

Delta Gamma embraces our motto to "Do Good" by being committed to philanthropy, whether it be to our national philanthropy, our local philanthropy, or those sponsored by others within and without the Greek community. We seize each opportunity that we are given to better ourselves, the community, and the world.

Protecting the gift of sight is one of Delta Gamma's highest priorities. Delta Gamma is the only Panhellenic chapter on the UC Irvine campus with their own foundation, created and founded by Delta Gamma's, benefitting our philanthropy, Service for Sight. This program keeps our charitable focus on financially and emotionally supporting individuals challenged with blindness and visual impairments.

Check out just a few of our opportunities to DO GOOD!

Anchorsplash

Every Fall we kick off the school year with a huge favorite among the Greek community, Anchorsplash! During this week long event we raise funds at our booth on Ring Road and host a campuswide at the DG house. These efforts culminate with our weekend Anchorsplash event at the ARC pool. Fraternities perform synchronized dances and swimming routines that always prove to be crowd pleasers. Last year we raised $14,000 and our winners were the gentlemen of Phi Psi!

DELTA GRAND SLAM

This past spring we hosted our first ever Delta Grand Slam! For this baseball themed event we had a week of boothing on Ring Road, our Slices for Sight pizza campuswide at the DG house, and finally a home run derby at the ARC fields with teams consisting of various members of the UCI community. We raised $6,000 during this event and can't wait to raise more next spring!

Beyond Blindness

We are thrilled to be one of the few sororities on campus that gets to work hands on with our local philanthropy, Beyond Blindness, so closely. Not only do we raise funds and awareness for Beyond Blindness, but we help out in their classrooms and get to personally interact with their students during biweekly volunteer opportunities at their Santa Ana campus. We also participate in and volunteer at events they hold throughout the year like their Valentine's Party, Earth Day Celebration or their Annual 5k Walk!

A FEW WORDS FROM OUR VP FOUNDATION

Hi there! My name is Allison Yolland and I am the current vp: Foundation for the Delta Phi chapter of Delta Gamma. I am lucky enough to have the opportunity to facilitate the bond between our chapter and our philanthropy, Service for Sight. This bond allows our chapter to maintain a strong foundation in our values, as well as provide future opportunities through the new connections we find.

Our philanthropy was
created by one of our own members of Delta Gamma who was blind herself and advocated to raise awareness to visual impairment, so she founded Service for Sight. Our chapter is surrounded by multiple local organizations that allow us to have endless opportunities for hands-on volunteering and furthering careers. One of our local philanthropies, Beyond Blindness, is not only close to our hearts but also close in distance, allowing us to build a second home within their community.

Throughout the year we hold two week long philanthropy events that involve the SFL community on campus. Everyone’s favorite week of the year,
Anchorsplash, is our biggest fundraising event where we create fun ways to

encourage participation through friendly competition with choreographing dances, scavenger hunts, coin wars, and ending with a huge day of events with the SFL community. While we value our traditions, like Anchorsplash, our chapter aims to keep moving forward into doing good in more communities. After all, our name Delta Gamma came from the words “Do Good”, and that’s exactly what our chapter does!
